About the Program
The program in Beijing city (北京) offers a program designed to deepen understanding of its significance as China's capital and its role in East Asia. By blending cultural studies with social sciences, students explore Beijing’s historical, literary, and political-economic aspects. Through language and culture classes, as well as immersive field trips to landmarks, neighborhoods, and museums, students gain firsthand insights into the city’s heritage. The program also includes hands-on projects, encouraging independent exploration and critical thinking. This dynamic, interdisciplinary approach fosters cross-cultural understanding and broadens perspectives on East Asian society.
1. Introduction to the Beijing SiHai Confucius Institute
The Sihai Confucius Institute is located in the picturesque Western Hills of Beijing. It is a private academy focusing on the study of traditional Chinese and foreign classical texts, aimed at young students both domestically and internationally. Founded in September 2006 by Sihai Education and Sihai Media, the academy is a practical entity that continues to promote Chinese traditional culture, following seven years of the Classical Recitation Project being carried out domestically and abroad.

2. Purpose of the Institution
- To build a system for passing down China’s outstanding traditional culture and to rebuild Chinese education with Chinese culture at its core;
- To integrate Eastern and Western cultures, and cultivate modern Chinese gentlemen;
- To establish a Chinese cultural dissemination system centered on traditional Chinese academies, explaining China to the world;
- To create a philosophical research system centered on Confucian culture, blending the essence of Eastern and Western cultures and major religions, promoting world peace and development;
- To develop an exchange platform centered around modern network technology to facilitate the blending and popularization of Chinese and foreign classical cultural education.

Where students will learn and study?
This is a 2 to 4-week program that combines language courses with an exploration of Beijing’s cultural history and daily life. Students and parents will reside at the Sihai Confucius Institute in Beijing and engage in a variety of activities alongside local students. These include traditional handicrafts, archery, classical music instruments, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese sports, hands-on farming, and creative projects. On weekends, students will participate in field trips that offer a unique perspective on Beijing, exploring its historical and literary significance, as well as visiting different neighborhoods.
Accommodations
Students will reside in on-campus dormitories, while parents will stay in an on-campus hotel at the Sihai Confucius Institute.
The dormitories for students and the hotel offer amenities such as Wi-Fi, a 24/7 concierge, a refrigerator, daily housekeeping, laundry services, a safe for storing valuable items, a cafeteria, and a gym. Living here will provide the opportunity to meet students with various backgrounds and interests from different parts of China. In addition to the practical conveniences of a student community, the campus also provides access to a library and serves as an ideal base for your creative and academic pursuits. |
