ABOUT THE COURSE
In this program you will learn and/or improve the four basic skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) in the context of major themes in Chinese culture. Five essential characteristics of Mandarin Chinese: tones, pinyin, grammar, characters, and basic structures,
greater insight into Chinese culture, and build your confidence to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and friends in Chinese.

* A course placement test needed for student has this language skills.

​This level is designed for students who have successfully completed a two-year college course in speaking, writing, reading, and listening Chinese, or its equivalent. In this course, taught entirely / 90% in Mandarin Chinese, students will be required to comprehend and produce paragraph-level Chinese. Presentation in speaking, writing, listening and activities will be conducted in and off classroom.

Conducted entirely in Mandarin Chinese, this level is designed for students who have completed Intermediate Chinese or the equivalent. Students are introduced to the written Chinese (shumianyu) and taught how to make the transition from reading pedagogically prepared materials to more authentic materials. The complex communicative activities will be complemented. Students will also do intensive reading and writings on a variety of cultural topics.
