Program details

• Classes are typically limited to three to five students per instructor, allowing for greater in-person interaction and attention.
• Each section consists of eight two-hour sessions, held once or twice per week, and can be completed in either eight or four weeks. Upon completing the section, students can then enroll in the next level of that section.
• Classes are taught by qualified and experienced Latin-language instructors.
• Students who achieve a score of eighty-five or above may receive a certificate attesting to their proficiency in the language.​
• Tuition is priced at 629 dollars per every completed section of sixteen in-class hours. There is a one-time sixty-five dollar registration fee.
• The JPLI offers a three-percent tuition reward to students who score at least a ninety overall in their class, encouraging them to continue their language development.
• Student internships or work study programs are available to qualified students.

Introductory Latin 
Introductory Latin consists of four sections, each comprising eight two-hour sessions, held once a week for eight weeks. Therefore, completing the entire introductory course will span a duration of thirty-two weeks.

​In this course, you'll embark on an exciting journey into the world of Latin language and culture. Whether you're new to Latin or looking to refresh your skills, our program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in Latin grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

​To ensure smooth progress, we've divided this course into four sections: Latin 101, Latin 102, Latin 103, and Latin 104. Each section consists of eight two-hour sessions, meeting once a week over a period of eight weeks. Your instructor will provide approximately thirty minutes of daily assignments, and midterm and final exams will be conducted during the section.

Throughout the course, you'll:

• Learn basic Latin vocabulary and common phrases.
• Study essential grammar concepts, including noun and verb declensions, sentence structure, and verb conjugations.
• Practice reading and translating simple Latin texts.
• Explore the cultural and historical context of the Latin language, discovering its influence on modern languages and cultures.

By the course's end, you'll have acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to read and understand basic Latin texts. This will lay the groundwork for further study and exploration of this fascinating language.
